3D-printing and the castor bean, Monoqool also helps to build a more sustainable world!

Caring for our planet is much higher on the consumer agenda today. Making sustainable choices when shopping is becoming a trend. Monoqool is also contributing to reduce the impact of the production process on the environment!

We know Monoqool is a super innovative company when it comes to designing new glasses and shapes. In order to take the innovation even further, Monoqool now uses sustainable raw materials.

With the introduction of the ‘castor bean’ as a raw material for 3D printing, Monoqool is one of the first companies worldwide to use sustainable and renewable raw materials in the 3D printing process.

A fun fact: the ‘castor bean’ is sometimes referred to as ‘wonder bean’ in Dutch. A miraculous pair of sunglasses, if you ask us!

SN: Monoqool always chooses the production route with the lowest environmental impact. The choice for 3D printing makes it possible to produce close to home (low transport impact). Besides, only the exact quantity of raw material that is needed, is actually used. The excess polyamide can be reused, as opposed to acetate frames where more than 85% of the raw material is simply discarded.
