A brand on a mission

TAVAT was founded in 2010 and is dedicated to taking on the challenges that independent opticians deal with on a daily basis.

Its creative heart comes from the hills of Pasadena in California, while the glasses are being produced by experienced professionals at the foot of the Dolomites in Italy. Made in Italy is definitely not an understatement by any means. Both the production of the parts and the assembly take place in Italy.

TAVAT designs both functional and iconic glasses. Each with excellent performance for the wearer who is looking for a modern look, quality and refined elegance, and who is also interested in design, purpose and functionality.

The advantage of TAVAT...

Melanin and sunglasses
Melanin is a natural pigment that is naturally present in the human body. It filters UV and HEV light (violet-blue light). Therefore, it serves as our natural protection against the harmful effects of the sun.  People who have biomedical knowledge probably know that we have melanin in our eyes, hair and tanned skin.

TAVAT came up with the brilliant idea to inject synthetic melanin in its sunglasses. These lenses provide the ultimate eye protection, improved acuity and higher contrast, all inspired by the body’s natural protection against the sun. The lenses form a shield against UV rays and against 97% of harmful HEV light. They currently provide the best protection and are being prescribed increasingly more often by eye doctors. The melanin sunglass lenses are also available in polarized form, with or without anti-reflective coating and prescription strengths.
