TAVAT was founded in 2010 and is dedicated to taking on the challenges that independent opticians deal with on a daily basis.

Its creative heart comes from the hills of Pasadena in California, while the glasses are being produced by experienced professionals at the foot of the Dolomites in Italy. Made in Italy is definitely not an understatement by any means. Both the production of the parts and the assembly take place in Italy.

The advantage of TAVAT...

Melanin and sunglasses
Melanin is a natural pigment that is naturally present in the human body. It filters UV and HEV light (violet-blue light). Therefore, it serves as our natural protection against the harmful effects of the sun.  People who have biomedical knowledge probably know that we have melanin in our eyes, hair and tanned skin.

TAVAT came up with the brilliant idea to inject synthetic melanin in its sunglasses. These lenses provide the ultimate eye protection, improved acuity and higher contrast, all inspired by the body’s natural protection against the sun. The lenses form a shield against UV rays and against 97% of harmful HEV light. They currently provide the best protection and are being prescribed increasingly more often by eye doctors. The melanin sunglass lenses are also available in polarized form, with or without anti-reflective coating and prescription strengths.

TAVAT-zonnebrillen

Melanine is een natuurlijk pigment dat in het menselijk lichaam voorkomt. Het filtert uv en HEV licht (violet-blauw licht) en is zo onze natuurlijke beschermer tegen de schadelijke effecten van de zon. Mensen die biomedische kennis hebben, weten wellicht dat we melanine terugvinden in onze ogen, haar en gebruinde huid. TAVAT kwam op het geniale idee om synthetische melanine te injecteren in hun zonnebrillen. Hierdoor bieden de brillenglazen de ultieme oogbescherming, een verbeterd scherptezicht en een verhoogd contrast. Dit allemaal geïnspireerd op de natuurlijke verdediging van het menselijk lichaam tegen de zon. De TAVAT-zonnebrillen vormen een schild zowel tegen uv-stralen als tegen 97% van het schadelijk HEV licht. Hierdoor bieden ze momenteel de beste bescherming en worden ze meer en meer voorgeschreven door oogartsen. De melanine-zonneglazen zijn ook verkrijgbaar in zijn gepolariseerde vorm, al dan niet ontspiegeld en op sterkte.
