Just one more thing...

You probably suffer from photophobia. This is not a disorder or disease; it’s most likely a symptom.  Therefore, make an appointment with your (eye) doctor to find the underlying reason. If the underlying reason is treated, your sensitivity to light will diminish automatically. Did the doctor not find a problem? That is possible obviously! Some people are simply sensitive to bright light. In particular, people with light colored eyes may be more sensitive to light than people with dark-colored eyes.

Some people can deal with sunlight better than others. Whether someone is sensitive to light or not, we must protect our eyes from the sun, just like we protect our skin. Anyone who goes outside on very sunny days without sunglasses for many years is more likely to have cataracts later on. The message is: protect your eyes!

Our sun lenses are available in many beautiful colors, with or without anti-reflective coating. Click further to see which color matches your style the best. Do you already wear glasses for distance or near vision, or both? Do you also want to be protected without having to make a lot of effort? Choose convenience! Photochromic lenses ensure that you never forget your sunglasses! Alternatively, simply choose an extra pair of sunglasses!

Do you want the cream of the crop when it comes to protection? Choose a pair of TAVAT sunglasses melanin lenses. (see section on frames)

ColorMatic IQ® 3

ColorMatic IQ® 3 lenses change color when exposed to UV light. They only get darker outside because most windows have an integrated UV filter. These lenses are available in brown, grey, green and blue and darken from 5% to 88%.

This is our private label and is therefore somewhat less expensive than Transitions® lenses but they are certainly not of lower quality.

ColorMatic® IQ Sun 3

The ColorMatic® IQ Sun 3 lenses are also photochromic lenses, produced in-house at optoVision. The difference with the ColorMatic® IQ 3 lenses is the fact that these lenses already have a starting color of approximately 50%. Therefore, these lenses will be tinted, even in little or no sunlight. The lenses will get darker of course in lighter conditions.
These lenses are available in Chestnut Brown, Fashion Green, Smoky Grey and Contrast orange. The base color of 50% will darken up to 90%.

Did you know?
A crocodile can adjust the color intensity of its scales. It can absorb more sun with dark scales. The scales will become lighter or darker, depending on what the crocodile feels like doing.

Transitions® Signature

Transitions® lenses darken when exposed to UV light. These lenses are available in brown, grey or green and start with a color of 6% and darken to 88%. These lenses only darken when outside because most windows come with an integrated UV filter. This lens is a name brand and is not produced in-house at optoVision.

XTRActive™

The XTRActive™ lenses are also photochromic lenses, but they differ from Transitions® and ColorMatic® lenses. These lenses also get darker in visible light, even inside the house or the car. Our windows contain a UV filter that blocks the UV rays.

These lenses are available in grey and brown, have a base color of approximately 11%, and darken up to 90% outside and up to 50% in the car or indoors. This lens is a brand name product; therefore, it is not produced in-house at optoVision.
